About DLP & Design Guidelines

DLP 3D printing is more than curing resin; our advanced biocompatible, UL-94 certified materials ensure safe, reliable performance for medical and industrial applications.

Know Your Output, Technically

For DLP 3D printed parts, our quotation platform lets you experiment with materials and a minimum layer size of 10 micron. Tweak these settings to boost aesthetics, strength, or both. The more you explore, the better we can customize our service to your needs.

Min. Wall Thickness For DLP

For DLP 3D printing, a 1.0 mm minimum wall thickness for standard production. For consistent dimensional accuracy and mechanical strength, we suggest a minimum wall thickness of 1.2 mm.

Min. Hole Diameter, For DLP

Minimum hole diameter vary by resin; while 0.5 mm is feasible, 1.0 mm typically improves dimensional consistency and mechanical reliability.

Our Origin: Made from Failure, Built for Makers

We started as a small hardware team with a big dream—and ran straight into manufacturing walls: missed tolerances, blown timelines, and costs we couldn’t control. That failure hurt, but it lit a fire. We promised to make manufacturing simpler, faster, and fairer for every maker who dares to build—and we put that promise in our name: Make(nica).

Frequent questions & answers

Answers to commonly asked questions about our DLP 3d printing services & platform

Pro‑BLK‑10 is a production‑grade, rigid black resin for Figure 4 DLP that delivers smooth surface finish, high precision, and thermoplastic‑like mechanical properties, making it ideal for functional prototypes, snap‑fits, housings, and end‑use parts where speed and repeatability matter.
Rubber‑65A is a production‑grade elastomer (Shore 65A) with high elongation and mid‑tear strength, designed for flexible parts like grips, seals, gaskets, bumpers, vibration‑damping components, and pipe spacers, with slow-rebound behavior for real rubber‑like performance.
Pro‑BLK‑10 provides thermoplastic‑like strength and durability, excellent sidewall quality, and long‑term environmental stability (UV/humidity), enabling direct digital production that can replace soft tooling or some injection‑molded parts in appropriate use cases.
Both materials are noted as “biocompatible capable” when processed per documented workflows (ISO10993‑5 and ISO10993‑10), and Pro‑BLK‑10 lists UL94 HB flammability; always confirm application‑specific compliance from the official datasheet and processing guide.
Figure 4 DLP produces high‑resolution parts with smooth surfaces and excellent sidewall quality; Pro‑BLK‑10 is highlighted for high precision and repeatability, while Rubber‑65A maintains consistent mechanicals with isotropic behavior across build orientations.
Pro‑BLK‑10 supports fast throughput with simplified post‑processing (single solvent clean and single cure), and is listed with print speeds up to 62mm/hr at 50µm; Rubber‑65A lead times are often quoted at a few hours depending on queue and part size.
Design limits are material‑specific; Rubber‑65A published guidance emphasizes considering sufficient wall thickness for function, and both materials require standard DLP support strategies with attention to cosmetic surfaces to minimize post‑processing marks.
Figure 4 prints isotropic mechanical properties across XYZ, reducing the need to orient for strength and helping achieve consistent behaviour for both rigid and elastomeric parts.
Datasets show Pro‑BLK‑10 maintains mechanical properties over time with UV/humidity exposure and includes chemical compatibility testing per ASTM D543 and USCAR2, supporting use for interior automotive and general industrial environments where compatible.
1. Pro‑BLK‑10: automotive interiors, connectors, motor housings, snap‑fits, and general small end‑use parts that benefit from direct digital production and fast iteration. 2. Rubber‑65A: consumer grips/handles, seals, gaskets, vibration‑dampers, and housings that need flexible, medium‑hard rubber behavior with good tear/elongation performance
